STEPS:
For Wndiwows XP
1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
5. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
6. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
8. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
9. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
10. DONE!
For Windows 7
1. Open the windows explorer.
2. Go to organize menu, found at the top menu bar.
3. Navigate to the folder and search options, click on it.
4. A dialog window will open, go to the view option tab.
5. Check the radio option of “show hidden folders and files” and uncheck the check box option of “hide protected operating system files (recommended)”, click OK.
6. DONE!
For Windows 8
Go to Control panel. You can do that:

Go to Control panel. You can do that:
-
From Windows 8 Start Screen: select the Control Panel or;
From Desktop Mode: Move the cursor at the bottom-left corner and right-click there. Desktop shortcut menu should appear, click on Control Panel. - From Control panel window, click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
- Now click on the Show hidden files and folders option under the Folder Options category. This should open a new window.
- Under the Hidden files and folders section select the Show hidden files, folders, and drives radio button. This will show the hidden files. (See screenshot below)
- Also un-check the Hide extensions for known file types option. This will show the file names along with the extension. (See screenshot below)
- Finally, un-check the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) option. This will unhide the protected system files as well. By default Windows will not allow you to see System files unless you uncheck this checkbox. (See screenshot below)
- Click the Apply button follow by the OK button.
DONE!!!
